![]() ![]() I purchased the lanyards from Staples! Also, part of the introduction skill…you will be sharing the sight word interactive reader with the kiddos. A few years ago I started wearing my sight words a few days of the week and it made a huge impact! The sight word “necklace” cards are located with in the packet. In the lesson plans you’ll teach to that skill.Īlso included in that section you will mention your sight word necklace! Sight words happen to be one of those skills that is based on MEMORIZATION. That simply means that they don’t follow the common rules k-1 kiddos know. It is no secret that generally sight words are “trick” words. In the skill introduction you will be introduced that sight word to the kiddos! I like to use this time to teach the kiddos about the word itself. The lesson plans are broken down into four sections: skill introduction, applying the skill, independent practice, and assessment with data tracking. Once you have your sight words printed, then place them in your sight word order and place them into a binder or bind! Okay, enough about the words covered…let’s get into the curriculum! Below you can see an example of the sight words scripted lesson plans! With the sight word list, you are able to teach the words in any order you see fit! All of the curriculum is stand-alone so the lessons won’t build on one another! The best way would be to select the pages you want (I’ll share a quick print tip for that later) and just print those. It seemed like I was getting a mixture of Dolch Pre-Primer, Dolch Primer, Fry’s top 100, and Zeno top 50! So, that’s what I included! Below I will list the entire list and an easy to print list can be found ** HERE ** I asked in my Facebook group what list of words were used the most. I knew what you were asking for… a comprehensive curriculum like my other curriculum programs! I sat on it for a while because there was one HUGE road block I was facing, sight words are SO vastly different between districts, schools, and even teams of teachers! So, I knew I needed to have a program that could be flexible and allow the teachers the freedom to teach their list of words and at the order they needed! I think it’s important that I do my part to explain my programs, what’s included in them, and best yet….how to best use what is included! I was approached by several of YOU for a sight word curriculum program. I enjoy taking the time to write these posts. The worksheet will be automatically emailed to you.Well hello there and welcome to another post! This post is all about my new program, PrimarySightWords and a FREE sight word is also included. The “Yellow” Sight word worksheet has a few activities to help students read and write the word fluently. My children love to play it! I love that you can get it for different levels! ![]() If you are looking for a fun game to play while learning sight words, consider Zingo! It is just like Bingo, except with sight words. The more practice, the easier reading becomes! If you differentiate the sight word activities, students will continue to have fun learning. In addition, it it great to practice writing sight words in the context of a sentence (or, cutting and pasting sight words into a sentence). Sight words are more easily remembered and understood when you read them in the context of a sentence. Children need to read sight words IN CONTEXT. ![]() When teaching sight words, though, you don’t want to just teach them using flash cards. Frequently words that children read can contain up to 80% of sight word text! Because children have to read sight words so frequently, it is essential to make sure that children can read these words fluently (accurately and quickly). Sight words are (usually) words that are difficult to sound out. This is a sample page of our larger sight word packet that contains all of the dolch sight words. ![]() Today I have 2 Free “Yellow” Sight Word Worksheets download for you. Sight words are especially critical because they occur so frequently in the materials that little people read. When teaching a child to read, it is essential that you teach both sight words and phonics. ![]()
